BARRE — Thunder Road postponed Thursday's Passumpsic Bank Night due to an inclement weather forecast. The event has been rescheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
Passumpsic Bank Night features the second round of the Triple Crown Series for the Flying Tigers. The Late Models and Street Stocks also have a full card of action. The pits for the rescheduled program open at 3:30 p.m. and the front gates open at 5:15 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12 and $25 for a family of four (two adults, two children).
CVR to host Bear Swamp race
MIDDLESEX — The 41st annual Bear Swamp Run will take place Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. at Rumney School.
The 5.7-mile event features a loop course on mostly dirt roads. Racers will climb 450 feet during the first 3 miles before gradually descending back toward the finish. Race-day registration at Rumney will be held from 8 to 8:45 p.m. The cost is $10 and there will be multiple categories based on age and gender. The event is part of the Central Vermont Runners/Onion River Outdoors Race Series.
Bellows Falls 7, Randolph 5
RANDOLPH — Post 37 snatched the lead in extra innings on Wednesday.
The game was tied at 1 with Post 37 batting in the top of the eighth when they rallied for six runs, including a two-run single from the bat of Griffin Waryas.
A six-run lead in the eighth inning was just enough for Post 37 to hold off Randolph for the victory. Randolph scored four runs in the failed comeback on singles by Jake Hewitt, Austin Tracy and Dylan Kuban.
Post 37 fired up the offense in the first inning as they scored on an error.
Randolph knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the third inning by plating one on an error.
Huxley Holcombe got the win for Post 37. He went five and one-third innings, allowing four runs on four hits, striking out five and walking one.
Jake Preston took the loss for Randolph. He allowed five hits and six runs over two and one-third innings, striking out one.
Zach Whitmore started the game for Randolph. He allowed one hit and one run over five and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Seth Balch started the game for Post 37. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out two and walking one.
Darwin Holcombe, Ty Merrill, Huxley Holcombe, Waryas, Lucas Saunders and Balch each collected one hit to lead Post 37.
