WARREN — The Mad Dash will return for its 24th year on Oct. 13, with 10- and 5-kilometer events scheduled for runners and walkers.
The event takes place over Columbus Day Weekend and typically boasts over 500 participants. Racers will take off at 10 a.m., with some shooting for personal-best times while others embrace a slower pace and take in the scenery of the Mad River Valley.
The event often coincides with peak foliage season, offering majestic colors as trees turn vibrant shades of yellow, orange and red.
The weekend also boasts multiple events throughout the Valley like Sugarbush’s Community Weekend, where guests can celebrate autumn with pumpkin carving, lift rides, disc golf, hikes, music, kids’ camps and mountain activities.
Sugarbush is also the headline sponsor of the Mad Dash, which includes a kid’s fun run in addition to the 5K and 10K events.
Every participant is welcomed by the many volunteers and receives an event shirt, a healthy lunch, refreshments and great entertainment. There are raffle prizes to be won along with a silent auction featuring an assortment of great items from local businesses. The run/walk course takes participants through the countryside on local roads with views of farms, a covered bridge and colorful meadows. Those who enter early can save $10 on registration fees.
