Kurts led the Raiders to their fourth consecutive Division II state championship with a 75-point team victory over runner-up Woodstock. The three-sport standout raced to a 39-second individual victory over Wasps star Riley Shepherd, crossing the line in 16 minutes, 50 seconds. He improved his time at states three years in row after finishing in 18:36 as a freshman. During his sophomore season Kurts was fifth at states in 17:46 before placing third last year in 17:33.3 despite battling snow-covered trails. Kurts and the Raiders will attempt to solidify their spot as the top Vermont team among all divisions when they travel to the New England Championships on Nov. 9 in Manchester, Conn.
