Montpelier High School

FRESHMAN, GIRLS SOCCER FORWARD

It’s a big leap from middle school to varsity soccer, but Mills barely skipped a beat during a sensational start to her high school career. She made her debut against four-time defending champ Milton, tallying the lone goal in a 1-0 victory. Mills scored twice in a 4-1 victory over Randolph and then helped bail out the Solons during a 3-3 tie against Thetford. Montpelier trailed the Panthers by three goals entering the 74th minute, but Mills raced down the left flank and set up teammate Anja Rand to spark their team’s comeback. It marked the third assist of the season for Mills. The freshman scored with nine seconds left in the first half Saturday as MHS held off Rice, 2-1.
