Harwood Girls Basketball Junior Forward
Nelson returned from a brief absence and made her presence known from start to finish while leading the Highlanders to several key victories. She scored a dozen points Saturday at U-32, leading HU to a 43-22 win over the Raiders. Earlier in the week Nelson grabbed five rebounds and two steals to help her team snap Spaulding's seven-game winning streak with a 32-25 payback victory in Barre. Her tenacity on the glass has been a huge reason why Harwood has outrebounded every opponent this season, including D-I South Burlington. The modest two-game winning streak wound up having a big effect in the Division II standings, as Harwood (5-4) skyrocketed to the No. 5 position in front of Springfield (7-3), Missisquoi (5-4), Lyndon (6-4) and Hartford (5-4).
