NORTHFIELD — The Norwich University men’s lacrosse suffered an 11-5 loss against conference powerhouse Lasell.
A tight first period was capped by Andrew Fidalgo buzzer-beating the buzzer to give Lasell a 3-1 lead. The Lasers came out with three unanswered goals in the second before Norwich’s Cody Moore fired in his own buzzer-beater at the end of the first half, closing the gap to 6-2.
The Cadets put together a big push in the third quarter, scoring three straight goals to capture the momentum for a moment and cut the deficit to two goals. The Lasers kept their composure, ending the game on a 4-0 run behind dynamite defensive play for a stretch of 20:51.
Norwich’s Nick Kandra played 60 minutes in goal, making 27 saves to give the Cadets a chance. He recorded the most saves in a single game of any Norwich goalie in the past five years. Lasell outpaced the Cadets in shots, holding a 58-20 advantage.
Norwich falls to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The Cadets will host Rivier at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

NEWTON, Mass. — The Lasers rolled past the Cadets by scoring nine second-half goals.
The game started off in the Cadets’ favor, with Michaila Furchak and Emily Schromm scoring goals to give NU a 2-0 lead. The Lasers clamped down from that point forward, holding Norwich scoreless for the remaining 20 minutes of the first half while scoring six goals of their own to a 6-2 halftime lead. The Cadets hung with Lasell for a moment in the second half, but a 6-1 run over the final nine minutes helped the Lasers lock up the victory.
Schromm finished with one goal and two assists, while Furchak, Mary-Kait Mace, Brittney Poljacik and Ariana Lacombe also scored for Norwich. Goalie Lawson Hayes made 11 saves for Norwich, which will host Emmanuel at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
