Although not perfect, Barre’s history is rooted in inclusiveness and embrace of political, economic, religious and ethnic diversity. Unfortunately, at least politically, this is gradually changing — for the worse.

The upcoming election offers Barre an opportunity to lead Vermont with strong message that the partisanship and gotcha politics fueled by special interest agendas that is seeping into the city is not healthy for Vermont, for families and our futures.

There is no clearer way to send this message than to vote for Paul Poirier and John Steinman to represent Barre in the Vermont House of Representatives.

I have known Paul Poirier since high school. Although we sometimes disagree on the best way to solve problems, Paul is inclusive, trustworthy, deliberate and effective. He has my respect.

John Steinman has run an impressive campaign. I believe he has earned the opportunity to work alongside Paul Poirier and Gov. Scott to build a government able to help Vermont be the best she can be.
