Sue Higby had a solid record of volunteering and working for our community before she won her Ward I seat on the City Council. The award-winning Zipper Pocket Park is one tangible piece of evidence of her earlier efforts. She has also worked with various organizations to enhance the cultural and economic lives of Barre families.

Sue has served us well on the City Council. She has demonstrated many times that she is willing to think outside the box and look at issues with a fresh perspective to find ways to benefit the city and its taxpayers. The idea to use parking meter fees during the holidays to help the Recreation Department came from Sue, and is an example of the creative approach she uses to our advantage.

She believes in Barre and wants to celebrate its history and its potential. She sees an opportunity to decrease property taxes and to put blighted and abandoned properties to right and back on the market. Sue believes the best way forward is for all of us to work together, that collaboration and cooperation are the keys to success.

That is why I will be voting for Sue Higby for City Councilor from Ward I.
