My appreciation and admiration goes to the favorite whipping boy of Vermont, Gov. Phil Scott.

His decision to grant unemployment benefits to furloughed federal workers is an excellent example of how an elected official is supposed to perform his duties, Democrat or Republican. Making sure those people are taken care of is the duty of government. He is a credit to Republicans, most of which have seem to have lost their way in the last couple of years. My hope is that some of them follow his lead and treat people like humans instead of statistics. My hat is off to the governor for his humane decision.
