It's entertaining to contemplate the vision of the world Rob Roper promotes in his denunciation of a tax on carbon possibly raising fuel oil costs by $1.70 per gallon in 15 years. An insane agenda, he says. Why? Because it would exact an unbearable cost in dollars but worse, he cries, would be the destruction of individual freedom.

Of course, Roper idolizes our "Dear Leader" in Washington who has caused the agencies he controls to revoke 85 environmental protection regulations. We are so much freer now — free to breath polluted air and drink polluted water; enjoy the glow of rampant fires burning our forests; have the pleasure of rampant storms destroying our houses while flooding our cities; enjoy seeing the corpses of wildlife formerly protected from industry; have the pleasure of seeing oil rigs in the National Parks that weren't sold off, to name just a few.

Such a rhapsodic vision Rob Roper presents. It must bring tears to his eyes to contemplate all those people having the freedom to plunder the natural world while counting the untaxed money they have extorted from the public.

I prefer a different world, a vision like the "Wonderful World" Sam Cooke sang about in 1960:

I see trees of green, red roses, too;

I see them bloom for me and you;

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white;

The bright, blessed day, the dark, sacred night;

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

I will miss that world, but not the selfish thinking of Rob Roper and the Ethan Allen Institute that is destroying it.

Higher taxation didn't fix: Racism, Poverty, Crime, foreign aid, the justice system, food safety, healthcare or even roads! Why will is save the planet from man influenced climate change? Taxing carbon is about power and control by an expanding government.
