As I peruse The Times Argus this morning and arrive at the back page of the first section to see yet another full-page color ad for an extremely dangerous addictive chemical, I have to wonder.

For some reason, we allow advertising for tobacco and alcohol products, knowing full well about the addictive nature of the drugs and the over half a million deaths a year attributed to them.

I’m not suggesting that we make the advertising illegal. For some reason, that doesn’t seem to be in the cards. I am suggesting that we significantly tax alcohol, tobacco/nicotine and, eventually, cannabis advertising.
