Today, the voters of the Barre City and Barre will vote on two budgets: (1) the FY2020 budget for the newly merged Barre Unified Union School District; and (2) the FY2020 budget for the Central Vermont Career Center. Barre City residents vote at the Barre Auditorium and Barre Town residents vote at the BTMES gymnasium; polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

As a team of administrators, teachers, para-educators and support staff, we are proud of the quality of education we provide, and we are committed to doing so at a “per pupil cost" that is consistently among the lowest in Vermont. Every member of our team, as well as our community members who serve on our school boards, work incredibly hard to make this happen. For the upcoming fiscal year, the average “per pupil” cost in the 11 districts surrounding us is projected at $16,932. Our per pupil cost in Barre is $13,556.

Whether from Barre City or Barre Town, we all share the same Barre Pride — and we’ve all worked hard to get to where we are today. I hope you’ll get out and vote on May 14, and continue to help us provide our students — your children — with outstanding academic, athletic, social and extracurricular opportunities.
