In response to Rob Roper's article “Plastic bag ban an overstep” from June 25, I say ... really?

This was a long-winded theoretical argument vs. the real problem of our accumulating and continuing to produce oceans of plastic.

A young whale died from starvation with 88 lbs of plastic in her stomach, according to National Geographic, March 2019.

And to the letter writer from Barre, who wrote in support of Roper’s article, I respectfully reply, “'God help us’ to help all the species who are dying off because of what we’ve done in the name of progress and convenience.”
