Dear Ellen and family,
Ed and I are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Tom. In 1986, I began my fight for the stoplight at the corner of Hill and Washington Streets after our 12 year old son was struck by a car while in the middle of the crosswalk (he is fine). I called the Times Argus to talk with someone who might help me and that is when I met Tom......through the next 3 1/2 years, Tom was the only person who supported and guided me from the beginning to the end; he would call and/or meet with me regularly and give me good advice - without him, I would have given up, but he was so understanding, compassionate and humorous. His gentle personality was comforting and he felt strongly about standing up for what is right. The day the light was installed, he called me and said, "You did it!" And I said, "No, WE did it." God bless you and your family.
