Sandra J. Newcity BERLIN — Sandra J. Newcity, 71, of Dog River Road, died unexpectedly and after a brief illness on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington. Sandy was born on June 30, 1948, in Northfield, the daughter Chester and Luna Gushea. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1966. In 1967, Sandy married Robert Newcity at St. Augustine’s Church in Montpelier. Together, they had a son, Corey. Sandy was a stay-at-home mom and cherished the relationship she had with him. Sadly, Corey died in 1996. Most recently, Sandy worked for Black Bear Wood Products in Northfield until their closing in 2017. Sandy will be fondly remembered by the Montpelier Police Department for her Christmas baking. She would make her deliveries on Christmas Eve to each shift throughout the night. Survivors include her husband, Robert Newcity, of Berlin, many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. Calling hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Committal prayers will be offered in the Berlin Corners Cemetery following the Mass.
