Robert R. Della Santa BARRE CITY — Robert Rano Della Santa, 74, of Prospect Street, went to his Eternal Rest on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Robert "Bob" was born in Barre on Oct. 19, 1944, to the late Lawrence and Ruth (Eastman) Della Santa. He attended St. Monica School and graduated from Marian High School, Class of 1962, and Vermont Technical College, Class of 1964, with an Associate degree in Highway Design. Bob first worked for the Connecticut State Highway Department before returning to Barre in 1971 with his family. He was employed by the Vermont State Highway Department, retiring in 2008. Bob was also a proud and long-tenured member of the Vermont Air National Guard, Green Mountain Boys division, where he happily served with the jet fueling team until he retired. Bob was a faithful Catholic, a lifelong member and daily communicant at St. Monica Church. He was a member of the Mutuo Inc, Barre City Elks Lodge #1535 and Canadian Club. From a very early age, Bob enjoyed skiing, hunting and playing golf with family and friends. Bob was a caring, loving and thoughtful father, grandfather (Nono), brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by his son, Robert R. Della Santa II, of Barre; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mark Heimall, and grandsons Justin L. and Mark L. Heimall, all of Surprise, Arizona. He will also be missed by his sisters and brother-in-law, Susan and Dean King, and Sister Laura Della Santa, RSM; as well as his two nieces; and extended family and friends. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. To honor his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Following the Mass, burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s name can be made to St. Monica Catholic Church, 79 Summer St., Barre, VT 05641.
