Phyllis E. Painchaud BARRE TOWN — Phyllis E. Painchaud, 91, of Ridgewood Terrace, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, with her family at her bedside. Born Dec. 14, 1927, at home on Bianchi Street in East Barre, she was the daughter of Philip and Mary Elnora “Nora” (Dexter) Blanchard. Phyllis attended East Barre School and Spaulding High School. On Feb. 7, 1948, she married Philip L. Paquet in East Barre. They made their home in Virginia eventually returning to Vermont, settling in Washington. Phyllis worked as a hot lunch cook for Chelsea School where she enjoyed all the students. She also worked for the former Central Vermont Hospital in the business office until her retirement. On Oct. 10, 2005, she married Richard B. Painchaud in Dunbarton, New Hampshire, and they made their home in Barre Town. She was a member of the East Barre Congregational Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was in the ladies’ auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Richard Painchaud, of Barre Town; her daughter, Cheryl Paquet Buzzi and husband Michael; her grandsons, her pride and joy, Louis "Chuck" Paquet and partner Melissa Palana, Travis Paquet and wife Hilary, Phillip Paquet, James "Jim" Buzzi and wife Laurie, and David Buzzi; great-grandchildren Colby Paquet, Emmeline Paquet, Patrick Paquet, Jasper Paquet, Ella Paquet, Nicole Buzzi, Natalie Buzzi and Leah Buzzi; as well as her stepchildren Richard B. Painchaud Jr. and his wife Yvonne, Jane Misslin and husband Michael, Kathryn Larue and husband Adrian, Elizabeth Gillespie and Carla Cook, and Rebecca Lauren and husband Jamie; step-grandchildren Beth Cook, Andrea Rowley, Dana Painchaud and wife Sheila, Megan Arnold and husband Devon, Michael Misslin, Jeannette Balboni and husband Mark, Melanie Lubas and husband Joshua, Sarah Gillespie-Heyman and husband, Phillip, Kathleen Gillespie, Hannah Laurin, Kaitlin Gobell and husband Brian, and Collin Laurin and wife Melanie; as well as step-great-grandchildren John Ross Rowley, Julia Rowley, Lilly Arnold, Gage Arnold, Madelynn Lubas, Adein Balboni, Zachary Balboni, Leo Gobell, Zoe Gobell and Noah Laurin. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Louis Paquet; her siblings Dean, Luther, Maynard and Richard Blanchard and L. Olive Vermette. The service to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 1 p.m. in the Wilson Cemetery in Lower Websterville. There are no calling hours.
