Patricia Morrison Welsh Feb. 8, 1959 - Jan. 22, 2020 MONTPELIER — Patricia Morrison Welsh, born Patricia Lois Morrison, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Jan. 22, 2020. Born at Heaton Hospital, Montpelier, Vermont, Patricia was a beloved, lifelong member of the Montpelier community. Patricia, known as Pattie to friends and family, grew up in East Montpelier. She loved to ride horses and play with the other children in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed cheering on the Solon athletes coached by her father, Burt. During the summer months, you could find her with family at Joe's Pond in West Danville, kayaking, waterskiing and enjoying time with friends. She attended UVM, graduating as a physical therapist. She took a position at Fernald State School in Waltham, Massachusetts, working with adults with developmental disabilities. There, she met her former husband, Thomas James Welsh of Lynn, Massachusetts. The two were married in 1985 at Bethany Church in Montpelier. In 1988, they welcomed their first child, followed by a second in 1990, after which they returned to East Montpelier to raise their family. Pattie continued her passion as a PT at CVMC and then went on to do some personal training. For the past 15 years, she worked with disabled students in the Montpelier School System. Her skills and finesse were well-respected by staff. She loved her students, greeting them cheerfully in hallways or while walking the streets of town. Pattie found her peace on sandy beaches, watching birds eat out of beautiful feeders, tending house plants and following Sunday afternoon football. She often bragged over her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting Kellogg Hubbard Library with her granddaughter, going to the local playgrounds, crafting and rocking her baby grandson. Pattie was predeceased by her parents, Burton and Eileen Morrison of West Danville. She is survived by her former husband, Thomas Welsh; sister Catherine Dodge and husband Tom; son Daniel Welsh; daughter Chelsea LaCroix and husband Christopher; granddaughter Leah and grandson Zachary. A memorial service will be held at Bethany Church in Montpelier on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m., fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family and school community ask that donations be made to the Unified Sports program. It is a program very dear to Pattie’s heart. ”Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly, and Leave the Rest to God”
