Mary (Melvin) Chouinard rites BARRE CITY — A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mary (Melvin) Chouinard, 86, of Allen Street, was held on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre. The Rev. Patrick Forman, pastor of St. Monica Catholic Church of Barre, led the service and read a poem, “I Carry Your Heart With Me.” Pallbearers were David Chouinard, Douglas Chouinard, Allen Chouinard and Robert Pomer, nephews; Isaac Pomer and Adam Chouinard, great-nephews. Burial followed in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, where Father Forman read the committal prayers and gave the final blessing. Roses were placed on her casket by family members. Following the burial, family and friends gathered at the Steak House on the Barre-Montpelier Road for a time of fellowship and sharing. (On July 7, 1956, she married Andre M. Chouinard in St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Graniteville. They were married 63 years.) Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre, Vermont.

Andy So Sorry to hear of Mary's Passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I remember Mary and Irene Dwyer coming down the hill from Spaulding High School and I was working at the Hotel Barre. They were always laughing and having a good time, and kind of giving me the business. Mary always had that special smile. May She rest in peace
