Marcel H. "Marty" Roy JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Marcel H. "Marty" Roy passed away on Jan. 28, 2020, after a brief illness. Marty was born in Barre, Vermont, on Jan. 18, 1931, and grew up in Graniteville. He served four years in the Air Force and later moved to Florida, where was employed by CSX railroad for 30 years and later spent 20 years driving the train on a scenic railroad in North Carolina, during the summer in his retirement years. He married Betty Demaree, a wonderful marriage of 49 years. They traveled the U.S. extensively and toured Europe with family. Along the way, he made many, many lifelong friends. Marty is survived by his wife; daughter Alison (Glen) Bennett; son-in-law Mike (Jo) Key, daughter-in-law Kathy (John) MacLean; grandsons Davis and Noah Bennett; and brother Norman. He was predeceased by his son, Michael; his parents, Henry and Roseanna Roy; and sister Ann Milne. Funeral services and burial were on Feb. 1.
