Lewis "Dusty" Dustin, Sr. NORTHFIELD — Lewis “Dusty” Dustin, Sr., 86, died Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. He was born in Plymouth, New Hampshire on October 27, 1932, the son of Frank and Dorothy (Kimball) Dustin. He is a graduate of New Hampshire schools. Dusty served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He married Betty Dickinson in the United Methodist Church in Northfield on May 8, 1954. They lived their entire married lives in Northfield, having just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Dusty worked his entire career as a lineman after returning from his military service, for Northfield Telecom and later, TDS Telecom in Northfield. He was a member of New Life Community Church and the American Legion Post 63, both of Northfield. Dusty was an extremely active outdoorsman. He enjoyed cycling, fishing, skiing, hiking, tending his flower gardens, drawing, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Northfield; three children, Luke Dustin, Jr. and his wife, Robianne of Shiloh, IL, Joy Dustin-Charron and her husband, Mike of Northfield Falls, Lisa Pettrey-Gill of Northfield; two sisters, Viola and Mary; his grandchildren, Jackie Mills, Melinda Campbell, Krista Pettrey; and great grandchildren, Robert, Cedric, Abby Mills, Logan Martin, Sabrina Campbell, and Bailey, Riley and Morgan Chamberlin. He is predeceased by his granddaughter, Jessica Pettrey, siblings, Frank, Francis and Loretta, and best friend, Alex Hart. There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 12 at 11 am at the United Methodist Church in Northfield. Donations may be made in his memory to the Four Season’s Community Care Activity Fund, 135 South Main St., Northfield, VT 05663. Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield is handling the arrangements.
