Julie Jane Michaud MONTPELIER — Julie Jane Michaud, of George Street, Montpelier, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at her home. She was 57 years old. She was born on Nov. 29, 1961, the daughter of Corbett and Marsha (Anderson) Nielson. She graduated from Montpelier High School in the class of 1980 and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Lyndon State College, where she met her husband, Frank Michaud. For 22 years, Julie worked for what is now the Montpelier Roxbury School district, where she was an instructional assistant. It was there that she helped countless Montpelier students with their education. In August 1986, Julie married Frank Michaud at the Bethany Church in Montpelier. Together, they enjoyed many vacations and adventures as a family. Julie enjoyed more than anything spending time with her family. She could always be found caring for others, whether that be helping a child at school or her own children at home, friends or just acquaintances. She was always thinking of others first. Julie and her husband were also members of the Central Vermont Boat Club. She enjoyed boating, camping, walking the beach in Maine, reading and watching movies, especially on Lifetime and the Hallmark channel. Survivors include her husband, Frank Michaud, of Montpelier; her children Emily Michaud, of Montpelier, and Corey Michaud and wife Lauren, of Middlesex; parents Corbett and Mary Nielson, of Montpelier; siblings Lynn Wilkinson, of Duxbury, Chad Nielsen, of Roxbury, Chris Nielsen, of Utah, and Michael Wilkinson, of South Burlington. A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at the Bethany Church in Montpelier. A reception will follow at the Capitol Plaza. In lieu of flowers, the family’s request is for donations to the Montpelier Roxbury School District to be used for enhancing initiatives to promote literacy in memory of Julie’s love and passion for working with children. Donations may be sent to: Montpelier Roxbury School District, 5 High School Drive, Unit #1, Attention: Business Office, Montpelier, VT 05602. I had the pleasure of working with Julie for a few years... I missed seeing her this year at UES but heard she loved MMS. She was a sweet, caring , funny woman who will be sorely missed by co-workers, friends and all the students she helped....
