Edith A. Baldwin CALAIS — Edith A. Baldwin, 101, formerly of County Road in Calais and most recently Woodridge Nursing Home, died on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020. She was born on Oct. 25, 1918, the daughter of Edwin and Eva (Farnsworth) Johnson. Edith lived and attended school in Worcester. She, alongside her husband, Nelson, spent many years running various dairy farms in central Vermont. She was very "hands-on" on the farm, often assisting local veterinarians with the delivery of cows and other livestock. All the while, Edith was also maintaining the home and raising her family. Edith loved growing plants, particularly flowers, nurturing them year after year. She especially enjoyed sharing her love for nature with her great-grandchildren, teaching them about birds and how to make a toad fall asleep. Survivors include her granddaughter whom she lived with, Kimberly Baldwin of Calais; her grandsons Ralph Baldwin and Nelson Baldwin; her great-grandchildren Rebecca, Erin, Wade, TJ, Jessie, Seth, Mark, Kristie and Joshua. She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Baldwin; her son, Richard Baldwin Sr.; her grandsons Richard Baldwin Jr. and Dennis Baldwin. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Robinson Cemetery in Calais. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodridge Nursing Home Patient Activities Fund, 142 Woodridge Drive, Berlin, VT 05602.
