Cintra D. Lyford BARRE — Cintra D. Lyford, 86 died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, Vermont. She was born October 9, 1932 in Randolph, the daughter of Lawrence and Pauline (Buchan) Darling. She attended school in Chelsea, Vermont, graduating in 1950 from Chelsea High School. On March 10, 1951 she married Charles L. Lyford of Chelsea. They had lived in Chelsea, Tunbridge, Graniteville, and East Barre before settling in Barre where they lived for many years. Charles died June 30, 1975. She had worked at Sprague Electric and several area nursing homes before retiring as the manager of the National Life Guest House. She had been a member of the Barre Moose Club and the American Legion Post 10 Auxillary also in Barre. She enjoyed listening to all types of music, watching old movies and reading. She is survived by seven sons, Charles “Chuck” Lyford (Maria) of Barre, Vermont and their children Denise, Jon, Peter, and Chas; Clifton Lyford (Mireille) of Williston, VT, Clayton Lyford (Marcia) of Georgia Center, VT and their daughters Holly and Emily; Christopher Lyford (Carol) of Calais, and their son Jay; Calvin Lyford of Barre, and his daughters Mallorie and Kaitlin; Curtis Lyford of Barre, and his children Kelsey and Kieran; Craige Lyford (Kathy) and their children Ben and Casey; four daughters, Connie Aseltine (Rodney) of Montpelier, and their children Amy and James; Christine Pecor (Stephen) of Northfield, and their children Kevin, Tausha and Nickalos; Carolyn Martin of Kentucky and her children Travis, Tyler and Tura; Cintra (Dee) Wood of Waterbury Center, and her daughter Ashley; 30 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; and a brother, Hale Darling (Jeanette) of Waukegan, IL. She was predeceased by her husband Charles Lyford, Sr.; a son, Corey Lyford; and a great great grandson, Tripp Burgess. There are no public calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, May 20, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Chelsea, VT. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the activities fund at Woodridge Nursing Home, 142 Woodridge Road, Montpelier, VT 05602.
