Cathy A. Gauvin-Davis BARRE CITY — Cathy Anne Gauvin-Davis, 63, passed away peaceful Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Central Vermont Medical Center after a long courageous battle with metastic breast cancer. Cathy was born November 28, 1955 in Burlington and lovingly adopted by Hervey and Eva Gauvin of Barre, Vermont. She was raised in Barre, attending St. Monica Elementary and Marian High Catholic schools. She held various jobs in the area, until she found her calling and opened Cathy’s Home Daycare in Barre. She touched the lives of many families and children over the many years of operation. After retiring from the daycare, she worked part-time at Heaton Woods in Montpelier, enjoying working with both the residents and co-workers there. Cathy leaves behind son Robert and his wife Stephanie of Barre; the light of Cathy’s life - her twin infant grandsons David and Alexander of Barre; her brother John and his wife Heide of Gilsum, NH; her life companion Wayne of Barre, and numerous cousins, relatives and friends. Cathy enjoyed many things in life, especially the cottage in Wareham, MA, the ocean beach, camping, arts and crafts, family, traveling and cheering for her favorite local race car driver, Kyle Pembroke. Cathy was known for her huge heart and her beautiful smile. In her last days that smile told us that all is going to be alright. Cathy met a lot of wonderful people along her journey. The love, moral support, prayers, medical treatment and assistance was numerous and she and her family wishes to thank each and every one. But special thanks go to Norris Cotton Cancer Center and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, National Life Cancer Treatment Center and Central Vermont Medical Center, the complete congregation of Bible Baptist Church, and very special friends Raya, Janet and Virginia. There will be a memorial service at Bible Baptist Church in Berlin, Vermont on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with reception following. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Cathy to Bible Baptist Church, 68 Vine St., Barre, VT 05641, and Gift of Hope, Friends of the Cancer Center, Norris-Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756 or join in the Prouty, July 12-13, 2019.
