Carl H. "Wally" Reed NORTHFIELD — Carl Harold "Wally" Reed, age 85, of Northfield, Vermont, pas.sed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2019, at home. Wally was born on July 11, 1933, to Harold and Marion (Loso) Reed. On Sept. 21, 1957, Wally married Dolores Bussiere Reed. Dolly passed away May 29, 1992, after a battle with cancer. Wally was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Northfield. He graduated from Northfield High School in 1951 and served his country for a few years before starting his career at the Nantana Textile Mill and Cetrangelo Finishing Works until retirement in 1995. Wally was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, NASCAR races, Washington Redskins and Norwich athletics events. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, working in his garden and going to local auto racing events. Special memories were the family gatherings on Labor Day weekend in his backyard, spending time with family and visiting with the people who delivered his “Meals on Wheels.” Survivors include four sons, a daughter and four special granddaughters, his pride and joy: Steven Reed and wife Terry, of Northfield; Gregory Reed and partner Gary Arkwell, of Punta Gorda, Florida; Kevin Reed and wife Kathryn, of Northfield; Gina Reed Sargent and husband Todd, of Randolph, and their two daughters Kaitlyn and Krista; and Douglas Reed and wife Michele, of East Montpelier, and their two daughters Amanda and Riley. Wally also had many nieces and nephews and special family friend, Mona Hall. Besides his wife, Wally was predeceased by his parents, brother Charles and his twin sister, Carolyn. Arrangements are by Kingston Funeral Home. 35 Slate Ave., Northfield. There will be calling hours on Thursday, Feb. 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and a celebration of his life at St. John’s Church in Northfield on Friday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery in Northfield in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wally’s memory may be made to the Northfield Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program, 168 Wall St., Northfield, VT 05663; or the Northfield Ambulance Service, 51 South Main St., Northfield, VT 05663.
