Barbara Howe TUNBRIDGE – Barbara Howe passed away at her home, Dec. 29, 2018, with her family and caregivers at her side. She was born on July 4, 1923, at home in North Randolph, to Anna Mae McDonald and Robert Stoughton Hall. Barbara lived in East and North Randolph, attending schools there and receiving degrees from Randolph High School and UVM. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, and was elected to the Mortar Board Society. On May 15, 1944, she married Mark Andrew Howe. She taught school in St. Albans for one-and-one-half years while Mark served in the Army Air Corps. Upon Mark's return from service, they began their lives in the Tunbridge valley on a successful Holstein farm, Howvale. There, they raised their four children Nancy (Dennis) Rogers, Wildwood, Florida, Carol (Brent) Lindstrom, Albania/Tunbridge, Susan (Steve) Wood, Essex Junction, and Robert Howe, Tunbridge. Barbara was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the school board, served as a trustee of public funds, the Tunbridge Ladies Aid, and on the United Church’s parish council for more than 25 years. She was a member of Eastern Star in South Royalton, as well as the Women’s Club there. Like many other young wives with families, she was involved as a leader in 4-H, Sunday school and School Club. Calling hours were Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, from 3-5 p.m. at the Boardway and Cilley Funeral Home, 300 VT Route 110, Chelsea. A memorial funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Tunbridge Church with Rev. Claire Bamberg officiating.
