Agnes E. Spaulding SOUTH ROYALTON — Agnes E. Spaulding, 82, of South Royalton, died Thursday morning, May 16, 2019 at Barre Gardens. She was born October 23, 1936 in Randolph; the daughter of Laurence and Eva (Ellis) Smith. She was raised in Randolph Center and attended Randolph Center and East Bethel Schools, graduating from Randolph High School in 1954. After graduation, she worked for a year for National Life. Agnes was married to Howard Wight on June 25, 1955. They farmed together in South Randolph until his death in 1986. She was married to George Spaulding on Aug. 21, 1988, and together they farmed for many years. She was a longtime 4H leader, and a member of the East Bethel Grange, the National Grange, the East Bethel Church where she was organist and a member of the Ladies Guild, Agrimark, the Farm Bureau, Farm Service Agency, and the Natural Resource Conservation Service. She enjoyed driving tractor, being with her grandchildren, church and country music, and square dancing with the Sugarhouse Swingers. Survivors include her husband George Spaulding of South Royalton; daughters Linda Hoyt and husband Ted of Tunbridge, Jean Storeholder and husband Larry of Swanton, Ohio, Beverly Wright and husband Rick of Bethel Gilead, and Janet Angell and husband Tim of South Randolph; sons Donald Wight of Los Angeles, California and Paul Wight of Howell, Michigan; stepchildren George Spaulding, Susan Spaulding and Frank Spaulding; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21 at the United Church of Bethel, with Pastor Thomas Harty officiating. Burial will follow at East Randolph Cemetery, with a reception following at East Bethel Grange. Calling hours are from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Monday, May 20 at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
