SHELDON – An Isle La Motte woman who state police say drove through a stop sign and into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer truck driven by a Barre man on Saturday morning appears to have escaped serious injury.

Police said Sarah Peters, 21, sustained “cuts and bruises” and was taken to Northwest Medical Center in St. Albans following the crash that crushed the front end of the 2017 Toyota Yaris she was driving on Woods Hill Road shortly after 7:30 a.m. The vehicle was destroyed, they said.

While the crash remains under investigation, police who responded to the scene said Peters failed to stop at the stop sign posted at the intersection of Woods Hill Road and Route 105 and slammed into the westbound tractor-trailer truck driven by David Boulanger, 50, of Barre.

Police said Boulanger was not hurt and damage to the 2018 Freightliner he was driving was limited to the truck’s wheel and axle area.
