BERLIN — No one has claimed it yet, but Vermont Lottery officials say an $11.5 million Tri-State Megabucks jackpot is waiting for the person who recently purchased the winning ticket at a Colchester convenience store.
Sold at Simon’s College Parkway, the winning ticket matched five out of five numbers (08-13-24-32-40) drawn on Wednesday, as well as the Megaball number (06). It is the first Megabucks jackpot win in Vermont in two years, according to Jeff Cavender, director of marketing and sales for the Vermont Lottery.
“It’s a great feeling when a Vermont Lottery player has the good fortune to win,” Cavender said. “To have it be the Megabucks jackpot is even better.”
Until the winner comes forward it is impossible to know whether ticket was actually purchased by a Vermonter, though Cavender said the odds are good.
“This Tri-State game that we share with Maine and New Hampshire offers the best odds. It’s our original jackpot game, and it’s usually local winners,” he said.
