WATERBURY — A Waterbury man is facing multiple criminal charges, including aggravated domestic assault, following what police described as a “family fight” on Saturday evening.

State police said they responded to the domestic dispute on South Main Street in Waterbury shortly after 8:30 p.m. Saturday and arrested Dale Brooks after an investigation determined he had physically assaulted another individual and prevented them from calling for assistance.

Brooks, 55, was processed at the state police barracks in Middlesex and later lodged at the Chittenden County Correctional Facility in South Burlington for lack of $5,000 bail.

Brooks is expected to be charged with aggravated domestic assault and interference with access to emergency services when he is arraigned Monday at the criminal courthouse in Barre.

As is their policy, police did not disclose the name of the victim, or the extent of any injuries suffered during the alleged assault.
