MIDDLESEX – A Waitsfield man, who was allegedly driving nearly 40 mile an hour over the speed limit on Interstate 89 Thursday evening is facing charges of drunken driving and excessive speed.

State police said they pulled over a northbound vehicle driven by Maxime Ygorra shortly shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday. Ygorra, 28, was allegedly clocked driving 102 mph prior to the stop, they said.

According to police, Ygorra showed signs of impairment and was arrested and transported to the state police barracks in Middlesex. Ygorra was processed and released on a citation. He is expected to be charged with driving under the influence and excessive speed when he is arraigned at the criminal courthouse in Barre on March 28.
