CALAIS — One driver was injured and the other was unhurt in a two-car crash that closed a short stretch of Route 14 just north of East Calais early Saturday afternoon.
According to emergency personnel, the East Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department was summoned to the scene of the head-on collision at approximately 12:30 p.m. and were joined by firefighters from Woodbury.
Though they could not release names, officials confirmed one of the two drivers was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center with injuries and the other was unhurt. There were no passengers in either of the vehicles, which were both heavily damaged.
The cause of the crash, the names of the drivers, and the extent of the injuries to one of them were not immediately available.
Route 14 was closed for more less than an hour as a result of the crash. The road reopened shortly before 1:30 p.m.
