CALAIS — An East Montpelier man who allegedly fled the scene of a late-night crash that totaled two vehicles on Wednesday has been cited by police.

State Police said initial attempts to locate 27-year-old Chad Santor in the hours after the crash were unsuccessful, but he was located and cited for leaving the scene of an accident on Friday.

According to police, Santor was driving a 2005 Subaru Legacy on County Road shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday when the car went off the road and onto the lawn of a home.

Santor’s Subaru slammed into a parked 2016 Dodge Caravan, pushing it out of the driveway and onto the lawn of the residence. Both vehicles were destroyed, police said, noting the Subaru also collided with a camper.

Police said the repeatedly tried to locate Santor in the hours after the accident without success, but confirmed he was cited Friday to appear at the criminal courthouse in Barre on Oct. 3. He is expected to be charged with leaving the scene of an accident at that time, police said.
