Katrina Marie Hagan and Kasey William Collins, of Berlin, were united in marriage on Sept. 21, 2019, at Stickney Farms in Roxbury. The ceremony was officiated by Chris Violette, justice of the peace from Barre.

Matron of honor was Melissa Clark, of Jefferson, New Hampshire. Bridesmaids were Kasey Degreenia-Harris, of Essex Junction, Alexandria Hagan, of Lunenburg, and Ashley Hagan, of St. Johnsbury. Flower girl was Luna Hagan, of Wheelock.

Best man was Scott Coburn, of Barre. Groomsmen were Brandon Tessier, of Orange, Adam Crawford, of Barre, and Kevin Collins, of Fort Edward, New York.

Katrina is the daughter of Bernard and Sandra Hagan, of North Concord. She graduated from Concord High School in 2011 and Vermont Technical College in 2017. She is currently employed by the Agency of Transportation in Berlin.

Kasey is the son of Zena Collins, of Barre. He graduated from Spaulding High School, Barre, in 2012. He is currently employed at Capitol City Buick GMC in Montpelier.

Mentor grants

MENTOR Vermont recently awarded 25 grants, totaling $348,735, to support youth mentoring programs throughout the state. The 2019-2020 Vermont Mentoring Grants will support more than 100 new and existing program sites, and more than 1,800 adult-to-youth mentor pairs in communities across Vermont.

Local area awards were: $5,700 to support the Cabot Mentoring program; $44,850 to Everybody Wins! Vermont statewide mentoring agency that supports literacy-based mentoring programs at Barre City Elementary, Northfield Elementary, Thatcher Brook Primary School, Union Elementary School and Waitsfield Elementary School; $14,000 to Girls/Boyz First Mentoring community-based program that serves youth from Berlin, Calais, East Montpelier, Montpelier, Middlesex and Worcester; and $12,900 to support the Twinfield Together Mentoring Program.

Stone Soup

On Monday, Nov. 25, Montessori School of Central Vermont (MSCVT) hosted their annual Stone Soup Thanksgiving Celebration. Children’s Librarian Ian Gauthier, from Aldrich Public Library in Barre, played the part of both the weary traveler and the enthusiastic story narrator.

The story of Stone Soup is about sharing and coming together, if everyone contributes even just a little, something bigger can be created in the end.

Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Martin McMahon, of Worcester, has been named to the 2019-20 Assumption Men’s Track & Field roster and is competing during the indoor season.
