Maple Conference

BURLINGTON — The annual Vermont Maple Conference, offered at two venues in January, features talks by industry and university maple experts on a range of topics of interest to both experienced and novice sugarmakers.

Sponsored by Vermont Maple Sugar Makers’ Association and University of Vermont Extension, the day-long program will be Jan. 18 at Brattleboro Union Middle School, 109 Sunny Acres, Brattleboro; and Jan. 25 at Lamoille Union Middle School, 736 Vermont Route 15, Hyde Park.

Fraternal newsBARRE — Barre Elks Lodge purchased, wrapped and delivered 20 lap blankets to Barre Gardens residents in time for the annual Christmas party. Special thank you goes to Maureen Lawson for organizing and delivering the blankets.

Jordan Poulin of Braintree, Falon Cote of Danville and Evan Spencer of West Berlin were named to the fall 2019 dean’s list at Paul Smith’s College.

Falon Cote of Danville was named a fall 2019 USCAA Academic All-American in women’s soccer at Paul Smith’s College.
