Two men charged with shooting doe

ROCHESTER — Two Rutland County men are facing charges they shot a doe in the Green Mountain National Forest.
Howard Papineau, 74, of Rutland Town, and James Beane, 41, of Proctor, were charged with shooting an antlerless deer Nov. 26, during the rifle deer season in which only legally antlered deer may be taken.
The two were charged following a joint investigation between state game wardens and U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officers.
