    Check facts on sign placement

    An article in the Aug. 25 issue states, “... bans (political) signs within about 50 feet of the road’s center line,” etc. I respectfully request your review of this. This dictates 150-foot-wide rights of way. I personally phoned the District 6 office two weeks ago and inquired about political signs along Vermont routes 14 and 64 in Williamstown. I was advised the rights of way were approximately 50 feet wide and signs should be at least 25 feet off the center line of the roads. Signs 50 feet off the center line can hardly be read from a moving car.
