    Ethics above issues

With the season of political campaigns upon us, I wanted to take a moment to tell you why I think Vermont is so very special and why I will support at least one local candidate, Kristin Sohlstrom, for the Vermont House. I have seen one thing that distinguishes Vermont from the other states. It has been my lifelong experience that Vermont voters judge candidates on their character, intelligence, integrity and work ethic. We generally do not support only those candidates who agree with us on some hot-button issue. Party-line voters in other states would be appalled that many Democrats support the Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, and that it is not uncommon to see a candidate nominated by both parties.

We seem to understand that good people will make good laws, and that politicians who will say whatever you want to hear will probably vote according to the latest polls and campaign contributions. That’s why I will vote for Kristin Sohlstrom for the Vermont House of Representatives, even if we disagree on some issues.
