     | August 20,2014

MONTPELIER — The department of state government responsible for managing the state’s workforce will have two new leaders starting next month.

Gov. Peter Shumlin announced Tuesday he was moving Maribeth Spellman from a high-ranking job in the Tax Department to the commissioner’s office in the Department of Human Resources.

Meanwhile, Kari Miner will move from program director at the Vermont Transportation Training Center to deputy commissioner of human resources.

Spellman replaces Kate Duffy, who left her job as commissioner of human resources this summer to work for the attorney general’s office.

The Human Resources Department negotiates labor contracts with the Vermont State Employees’ Association, responds to union grievances and investigates allegations of employee misconduct.
