CABOT — Sen. Bernie Sanders’ office said police had to be called to a “spirited” town hall-style meeting in Cabot on Saturday to deal with some disruptive residents and allow the meeting to continue.

Sanders also held community conversations in Barnet and Morrisville on Saturday to talk about the economy. In an email, Sanders’ communications director, Michael Briggs, said, “Unfortunately, in Cabot, a small group of people came to the meeting not to discuss issues, but to disrupt the meeting and try to make it impossible for the meeting to proceed.”

All in all, Briggs said the three meetings were “excellent,” with a total of about 450 people attending.
