• Stop the cuts

Every year at this time we are shaking in our boots because Gov. Shumlin is deciding to cut mental health services. People with disabilities can’t afford this action. It would be harmful for this to happen. Every person with a disability deserves to live a life with dignity and freedom of speech, which will be taken away if the support they need to do this will be cut. Gov. Shumlin, how would you feel if you had a son or daughter who does not have the ability to communicate without the support that is needed? Think about that before you make this decision to cut their services. Tracy Thresher, my son, who has autism, testified at the State House and said his services are vital to his daily living and to his ability to communicate. Of such services he said, “I absolutely believe it is our right as human beings.” Please listen to him and all others who are in need of having their freedom.
