• Gun is beside the point

Yes, it’s tragic that this prominent lawyer, wife and mother (Cheryl Hanna) took her life after she checked herself out of the hospital. The doctors could not legally lock her in a room and put her under suicide watch. Was the person who sold her the gun supposed to ask her if she suffered from depression? Nothing in a background check would have prevented her from purchasing it.

If she was forced to wait she might have used another method — something noncontroversial, like the late Robin Williams.

An outstanding human being suffered mental illness and tragically took her own life. But it seems that the focus now is on the instrument she used to accomplish it.
