Landlord sentenced for taking cremated remains
GUILDHALL — A landlord who was convicted of illegally removing property from a rented residence, including the ashes of a tenant’s father, has been sentenced to more than two months on a trespassing charge.
Brien Daignault will serve 14 days in jail and the rest on a prison work crew.
The 54-year-ol Daignault was convicted of entering the Concord home rented to Ray Wofford and Samantha Curschmann and removed their belongings when he had no right to in 2012. The tenants were current with their rent.
The Essex County Sheriff’s Department said among the items taken was a brass urn containing the cremated remains of Curschmann’s father. The urn and other property were put in a storage unit, but it was stolen in a break-in.MORE IN This Just In
