The Foundry at Summit Pond’s Sean Miller serves Green Mountain Power’s Steve Costello a plate of beef braised stuffed with gorgonzola wrapped in bacon during the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce Winter in August Celebration last year. This year’s event is set for Tuesday.

Winter in August, the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce’s annual tribute to the ski industry, takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday on Merchants Row.

The street will be closed to traffic outside the chamber office, just north of West Street.

The event is designed to recognize the positive economic impact that the ski industry has on the region, and it features food from numerous area restaurants that visitors can sample while voting on the best. Restaurants compete for a People’s Choice Award as well as Best Taste and Best Display awards judged by an expert panel led by Chef Paul Lasky.

Tickets are $10 per person or $9 if purchased in advance at the Chamber office.

Some space is still available for food vendors. Tickets and the vendor form are available at rutlandvermont.com, the Chamber office at 50 Merchants Row or by calling 773-2747.
