BURLINGTON — The memorial service and celebration of the life of Melissa Lee Holden, 28, of Shelburne Street, was held on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Williamstown United Federated Church. She died Aug. 1, 2014, at her home.
The Rev. Deborah Laporte, pastor of the church, led the service. Organist Stephen Morse provided the prelude and postlude music and accompanied the congregation in the hymns “Shall We Gather at the River,” “In the Garden” and “God Will Take Care of You.” He also accompanied the Rev. Laporte as she sang “What a Wonderful World.” Friend Julie Nielsen played, as the family entered, “The Secret Garden Song,” “I Shall Raise You Up” after the psalm, and “Silent Wings” as the family processed out. This special music was from “The Secret Garden.”
Friend Julie Nielsen read the eulogy, written by Melissa’s mother, Susan Holden. Members of the congregation also shared memories of Melissa.
Following the service, family and friends gathered in the church’s fellowship hall for a time of sharing and a luncheon.
The interment preceded the service in the Williamstown Village Cemetery with the Rev. Laporte offering the committal prayers.
