BARRE — City police cited Mia Boudreau, 33, of Barre, on charges of burglary and reckless endangerment of a child Thursday, according to a news release.

Police were called to Brook Street shortly before 6 a.m. for a reported burglary.

Police say they found Boudreau in a brook near the property, bleeding from multiple cuts “consistent with the scene of the burglary,” according to the news release. She was reportedly “acting irrational.”

Boudreau was treated at Central Vermont Medical Center for her injuries and later taken to the Barre City Police Department for booking.

According to police, Boudreau “is known to members of the department because of recent dealings” involving the Department for Children and Families and her 2-year-old child. Police said Boudreau had left the child at home alone during the burglary incident.

Police said she gave misleading information about the child’s whereabouts and that officers were sent to her residence, where they found the child in her apartment “naked, trembling on a couch and alone, and had been so for approximately five hours.”

The child was taken into custody, and police filled out paperwork to have the court turn the child’s care over to DCF.
