Berlin police win safety award
BERLIN ó The Berlin Police Department has received an award from the Governorís Highway Safety Program for the Vermont Law Enforcement Challenge.
The department received a second-place distinction and was awarded a cruiser radar system worth $2,000.
The Vermont Law Enforcement Challenge is a program that evaluates a departmentís efforts toward promoting highway safety. The Governorís Highway Safety Program judges the applications, evaluating departments in seven categories.
Some efforts that brought the award include the departmentís participation with child safety seat inspections and training, as well as participation in Governorís Highway Safety Program mobilizations such as ďClick It or TicketĒ and ďDrive Sober or Get Pulled OverĒ ó both high-visibility traffic enforcement campaigns.
The challenge is based on the National Law Enforcement Challenge, partly funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.MORE IN This Just InWASHINGTON ó Two senior Islamic State group leaders were killed in U.S. Full StoryVATICAN CITY ó Pope Francis rightly got credit for helping bring the U.S. Full StoryMAIDUGURI, Nigeria ó Islamic extremists killed 35 people and kidnapped at least 185 in an attack...
