    CHATHAM, Mass. — Graham R. MacDonald, 94, of Chatham, Massachusetts, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the Liberty Commons Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Center in Chatham.

    He was the husband of the late Catherine (Graham) MacDonald, who died in 2010.

    Born in Washington, Vermont, Mr. MacDonald served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served with the 121st Combat Engineer Battalion during the D-Day invasion at Normandy. He is a Purple Heart recipient.

    Returning to civilian life, Mr. MacDonald worked as a machinist and inspector for the L.S. Starrett Manufacturing Co. in Athol, Massachusetts, for many years.

    Mr. MacDonald is survived by a son, Kenneth MacDonald, and his wife, Sheryl, of Huntersville, North Carolina; a daughter, Judith Kowal, and her husband, John, of Hudson, New York; two granddaughters, Melissa Hueser and her husband, Jason, of Camas, Washington, and Andrea Swain and her husband, Jason, of Clayton, North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Austin Hueser. In addition to his wife, Mr. MacDonald was predeceased by a daughter, Marlene MacDonald; two brothers, Bruce and Keith MacDonald; a sister, Hester Williams; and his parents, Donald and Grace (MacAllister) MacDonald.

    Funeral services will be private.
