Hydroplaning car totaled in crashJuly 28,2014
RANDOLPH – A New York woman escaped serious injury, but the car she was driving was destroyed after state police say it hydroplaned off a rain-slicked section of Interstate 89 late Sunday morning.
According to police, 26-year-old Abigail Winter of Mount Kisco, N.Y., was driving south on I-89 shortly after 10:30 a.m. when she lost control of her 2005 Toyota Corolla in the middle of a heavy rainstorm.
Police said Winter’s car slid off the interstate and slammed into rock ledges before overturning. Winter, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident was helped from the wrecked car by passing motorists and transported to Gifford Medical Center in Randolph where she was treated for what police described as minor cuts and bruises.
Due to the severity of the rainstorm police said there was standing water on the interstate that contributed to the accident. Winter’s car was declared a total loss.MORE IN This Just InSmuggler jailed
